On Friday we received a call from Liam; one of the members of Phosphoros Theatre Company. Last week, the company were meant to be performing at Lost in Migration festival in Malta but one of the members was refused. They were accused of not having the right visas for traveling to the country.
The story was closely followed by many in the theatre community with the Independent writing an article, The Stage drawing attention, and many others in the community tweeting about their dismay and voicing their shock over the subject.
We’re incredibly excited to be welcoming Phosphoros Theatre Company to Opening Doors with their production Pizza Shop Heroes. Ceredigion has a long running history of welcoming refugees and asylum seekers and welcoming a theatre company made up of refugee actors to perform here is very exciting.
